Fire-fighters tackle blaze in Goldthorpe

Fire-fighters were called to a take away in Goldthorpe after fire broke out in the upstairs flat.

Barnsley Road was closed as crews from Dearne and Adwick tackled the blaze at 4.40am today.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the fire was thought to have been started by an electrical fault and had been logged as accidental.

No one was injured but the building was damaged by smoke and water.

Barnsley Road is now open.
