Colleagues to cycle across India

By Katia Harston, Chief Reporter Saturday 29th September 2012
Gillian Williams and Carol Asquith

Barnsley Council colleagues Gillian Williams, 57, and Carole Asquith, 58, are taking on the gruelling bike ride through the Rajasthan state to raise money for two cancer charities.

They are taking on the arduous challenge for three colleagues who have been affected by breast cancer and Carole's sister who is also suffering from the disease.

Gillian, of Doncaster, said: "This is no mean feat as we're both a lot closer to 60-years-old than 50, and I haven't been on a bike since I was 21."
