Town hall insurance fraud man jailed

By ian thompson, Town/Court Reporter Friday 28th September 2012

Andrew John Harvey, 32, of Norfolk Road, was sent to prison for 32 weeks for banking cheques worth £6,609 sent to him by a council computer maintenance worker.

Harvey, who admitted four counts of fraud by false representation at Barnsley Magistrates' Court, was locked up for what District Judge John Foster called 'repeated offending.'

"The taking of public money has to be regarded seriously and marked by an immediate prison sentence," said Mr Foster.
