Man critical after shooting in Wath

Friday 21st September 2012
Scene of shooting

It is thought the man, named locally as Tyrone Woodhead, was shot outside Everest takeaway, Doncaster Road, at about 8.40pm on Thursday.

Police were alerted after members of the public called an ambulance and armed officers remained outside the property on Friday morning.

A neighbour said he was a nice man who 'never had any run-ins.'

"I was gutted when I heard because he's a nice kid. I have lived here about 25 years and we have never had anything like this before," he said.

"He always waves when he sees you and we always have a natter in the street."

Detectives investigating the incident believe this was an isolated targeted attack.

Police are appealing for people who were in the Doncaster Road area between 8.15pm and 9pm last night, to call 101 quoting incident number 1146.

No i don't know him, but you did a report on him on the 7th of september 2007. He was a local hero, who was given a reward. This is a shocking story. Such a shame.
