Graham Ibbeson and the Proud of Barnsley awards.

SCULPTOR Graham Ibbeson shows off the Proud of Barnsley awards as the deadline for nominations looms.

There is only one week left to nominate the town's unsung heroes.

Nominees in the Green Award and Young Apprentice categories are still few and far between and the Chronicle is hoping for one last big push for entrants.

All those shortlisted for an award will be invited to a presentation night hosted by Barnsley actress Katherine Kelly.

The lucky winners will take home a specially commissioned trophy by Barnsley sculptor Graham Ibbeson.

The full list of categories is as follows: carer of the year, children's champion, community group, emergency services worker, exceptional achievement, good neighbour, green award, school of the year, sporting achievement, triumph over adversity, volunteer of the year, young apprentice, young entrepreneur and young superstar.

Get in touch for a nomination form if you know someone who should have a Proud of Barnsley Award on their mantelpiece.

Visit www.barnsley-chronicle.co.uk/proudofbarnsley to nominate online or pick up a form from the Church Street office. Contact Liz Lee on 734459 or email her at ll@scriptmedia.co.uk.
