Awards for Barnsley parks

Three parks in Barnsley have been named among the best in the country.

Cannon Hall park, Worsbrough Mill country park and Elsecar park received Green Flag awards, which only go to parks that are well managed and have excellent facilities.

It is the first time Worsbrough Mill has achieved the accolade while the other parks held onto their status for the second year.

Coun Linda Burgess said: "Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved for their hard work in achieving this, including staff, volunteers and friends groups. I would encourage the people of Barnsley to visit and enjoy these parks."
