Players needed for rounders league

By stephanie daley, Assistant Editor Sunday 5th August 2012

A rounders tournament and league has been set up in Barnsley, but more teams are needed.

Sports activity provider Team Barnsley launches the Rounders for Life tournament and league on August 21 at Shaw Lane sports club, Barnsley, and is looking for up to 16 teams, each with nine players.

Mixed and single sex teams are encouraged to sign up for both the tournament and the league which have been part funded by Rounders England. Registration is at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

The league runs for six weeks and starts on August 28 at the same venue.

Team Barnsley, is part of Team Activ, a social enterprise company which ploughs its profits back into sporting activities for children.

Darren Padgett, Team Activ’s Director, said: “Rounders is a really fun team game and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t played since school. Ask your friends, workmates or neighbours to see if you can get a team together. It’s a great way to get a bit of exercise and have a laugh whilst doing it.”

Anyone interested should contact Team Activ on 204409.
