Park cafe tenancy deadline nears

Saturday 28th July 2012

New tenants of Elsecar Park Cafe could be found soon with the deadline for lease applications fast approaching.

Barnsley Council has sent out tenancy packs to all parties that have registered an interest in the business and forms must be sent back by August 3.

A council spokesman said a number of people have come forward and following the deadline a suitable candidate would be chosen.

Earlier this month Donna Hegyaljai, 26, of Royston Hill, Hoyland, said she was interested in taking over the cafe and had been trying to do so since January.

She said she had not received a pack at the time but would still take up the opportunity despite missing out on a full summer's trading.

The cafe has been closed since November after previous tenant Francis McDonald had his lease terminated by the council.
