Road closed after smash

One of the main routes into Barnsley was closed following a serious crash.

The A61 was blocked from about 6am on Tuesday between Birdwell and Worsbrough because of the collision and diversions were put in place through Worsbrough village. It involved a blue Fiesta and a silver Vauxhall Vectra.

Police are investigating but have not issued a statement. It is understood some of those involved suffered serious injuries.
