Centuries old celebration at care home

Four women with a combined age of over 400 years were celebrated on Wednesday afternoon.

Mary Outram, 100, Kathleen Laughton, 100, Mary Rotherforth, 101, and Ida Bell, 103, all of Sandygate Care Home, were toasted at the Home's first Centenarian Day.

Home manager Angie Martin, 33, said: "Today is to celebrate, recognise and honour the centenarians that we have here at Sandygate.

"They've all achieved so much. It's been fantastic for them.

"The four women were presented with flowers and champagne from the Mayor of Rotherham. Centenarian Mary Outram said: I've really enjoyed it today. It's been lovely."
