Woman falls under train

Emergency services have lifted a woman from the train tracks at Barnsley Interchange.

She was taken to the air ambulance which landed on the former YEB site off Harborough Hill Road.

It has been reported that a woman fell under a train when her wheelchair or mobility scooter fell from the platform.

A South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Initiative spokesman said he was aware of an incident at Barnsley Interchange but did not have the details. Trains were stopped from pulling into platform one following the incident, he said.
