Monday 30th January 2012
The first new council houses for 30 years have been completed as part of a £10m scheme.
The first residents will be 'officially welcomed' to their new homes by the Deputy Mayor Coun Margaret Sheard on Friday, although many are already occupied.
A total of 76 new homes have been built across five different sites. There are 16 at Vernon Crescent, Ward Green, 12 at Grange Court, Brierley, 15 at Bellbrooke Avenue, Darfield, 19 at Lidget Lane, East Thurnscoe, and 14 at Rockingham Street, Honeywell.
The £10m investment includes a £4.8m grant from the Homes and Communities Agency.
