A GRANDMOTHER affectionately known as ‘Speedy Gonzales’ has been left stumped after thieves stole her and her husband’s mobility scooters.
Sylvia Keen, 67, needs the scooter to get around since having a stroke two years ago. Husband Jack, 73, got his after having a pacemaker fitted last month but both vehicles were taken early on Tuesday.
Sylvia, of Providence Court, Barnsley, said: “We got shut of the car because doctors said he didn’t ought to drive. The scooters are our only way of getting out.
“I used to go to Morrisons on my own, go round the market, or go to Agnes Road to the butcher or hairdresser. My kids used to call me ‘Speedy Gonzales’. Now I’m stumped.
The scooters were kept in an aluminium shed in the garden. Thieves sawed through the handle to get in. They were not insured.
