BARNSLEY Hospital proposals to shut wards and cut the number of senior nurses are included in confidential documents leaked to the Chronicle.

A surgical ward will go and three others face weekend closures under the plans to slash £8m from the hospital trust’s annual budget.

“Everything is so uncertain and people are obviously very worried,” said Unison officer Rianne Johnson who represents hospital workers.
