A BARNSLEY publican says the government should scrap 24-hour drinking and return to the licensing laws 'of old'.
Paul McNicholas, manager at Durty O'Dwyers and Pubwatch chairman, says 24-hour boozing has damaged the atmosphere in town and led to trouble at different times of the day.
He said: "You used to know there'd be the odd bit of bother at chucking out time. But now, with some bars and clubs open until 6am, we're finding we're getting trouble on Sunday lunch time.
"These young ones who've been out until six are coming out again, maybe to watch a football match, and all they're doing is topping themselves up."
