MUSIC student Monika Godlewska was so moved by images of the devastation in Haiti she decided to organise a fund-raising concert at the Civic.
The 23-year-old, in her third year of a music degree at University College Barnsley, has drummed up support from fellow students and friends in the music business for the concert on February 5.
Monika said: "I felt extremely moved and stunned by the media photographs from Haiti and believed that we can all make a difference by working together.
"My friends said, 'You are too late to do something now,' but I said, 'You are wrong, we can still do something about it and help them.'"
Monika hopes to raise £2,000 on the night and all proceeds will go to the British Red Cross.
The Civic's Fergus Justice-Mills said: "When Monika approached us, I felt it was a perfect opportunity to help the students raise money for this worthwhile cause.
"Pulling this together at such short notice will be a challenge, but one we are more than happy to undertake."
As well as the music performances, the evening will feature an auction of paintings, photographs and other items.
Donations for the auction can be made by calling 327000.
