A DEVASTATED husband has lost his wife to a brain haemorrhage two years after their son died of a brain injury.
Joan Pocklington, 54, had started a gym session at Shaw Lane sports ground when she complained of pain in the back of her neck, collapsed and never regained consciousness.
Her husband Steve was playing squash next door and watched while squash partner and fireman Nick Wrest and paramedics battled in vain to save her.
Joan, of Rookdale Close, Wilthorpe, died at Barnsley Hospital on Tuesday.
The couple's eldest son Lee, a forward with Shaw Lane Rugby Club, died on January 9, 2008. He sustained a head injury when he fell off his motorbike.
Steve, 50, said: "I haven't a clue what I am going to do. I've no job and can't imagine living in our house on my own. Me and Joan did everything together, we were superb together."
