Small builders go to work on Bird statue

IT'S the little things in life that make you smile. . . And these teeny builders 'working' on the Dickie Bird statue certainly do.

Darfield snapper Mark Dobson took the pictures early on Sunday - as part of a world-wide internet project called 'little builders' world tour 2009'.

The mini figures had already visited Sydney Harbour, the Coliseum in Rome and the Greenham Common nuclear base. And now they can tick Barnsley off their list of places to visit.

Mark, 44, of Coronation Street, is a carer for his wife but is also studying photography at Barnsley College.

He received the models last Tuesday and said: "You have them until the following weekend. I chose the Dickie Bird statue because its the latest landmark of Barnsley and I could use my imagination."
