Thieves target supermarkets

TWO CO-OP supermarkets in the Dearne have been targeted in a spate of thefts over two weeks.

It is thought the same two men were responsible for the theft of alcohol from the St Andrew's Square Co-op in Bolton on Dearne in two incidents last month.

The first was on May 24 when the men twice went into the shop and left with a bottle of wine and several cans of lager. They then went back two days later and took four cans of lager.

Both incidents took place at around 9.15pm and the men have been captured on CCTV.

Police are also looking for a man who is thought to have been involved with a number of crimes at the Goldthorpe Co-op.

On June 5 the suspect went into the supermarket on Doncaster Road with a child in a cream coloured push chair and left with a bottle of dilute orange and a packet of disposable nappies.

Police believe he is linked to other crimes and on one occasion was seen pushing a pink push chair with a different child. He is described as in his early 20s, about five feet five inches with short dark hair.

If anyone has information they should contact Barnsley police on 736030.
