THE 32nd Penistone Mayor's parade and gala was 'the best yet' according to spectators who hit the High Street on Sunday to see the 1940s Britain themed floats.
Thousands enjoyed the sun as they watched the floats parade through the town centre before making their way to the showground for an afternoon of activities.
The Stannage Family stunt team returned for a second year to wow spectators who also enjoyed the usual dog show, classic car display and fairground rides.
New town mayor Coun Roger Hinchliff and consort Brenda led the parade and handed out prizes for the best decorated floats.
The winner was St John's Infants school, the runner up was Penistone Young Farmers and Little Freddies' Nursery came third.
Coun Hinchliff said: "It was an absolutely fantastic day, Brenda and I enjoyed it very much. We couldn't have wished for better weather and everyone we spoke to said they had thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend.
