BEDDING, home entertainment equipment and an accountant's advice were among the items that Barnsley MPs made expense claims for.

The official parliamentary version of MPs' expenses were released yesterday under the Freedom of Information Act.

Much of the documentation has been censored by the House of Commons' authorities on privacy and security grounds.

But they do reveal that Barnsley East and Mexborough MP, Jeff Ennis, in January last year claimed £149.99 for a Toshiba DVD recorder for his second home.

Other electrical goods he claimed for included a £379.99 television, £89.99 stereo and a £24.99 toaster.

He has also submitted receipts of £33.97 for lampshades, £50.40 for curtains, £39.99 for a radio alarm, £40.31 for a microwave and oven trays and £11.98 for a new blind.

Even so Mr Ennis's claim was the lowest of Barnsley's three MPs under the second home allowance - £11,632.

Overall, he claimed £109,631 for 2007-08.

He said: "I have never claimed my full expenses and they are of the lowest in Yorkshire and Humber and in the country. I don't say that as a badge of honour."
