Police warning over forecourt thief

CAR dealers have been warned to be extra secure after a car was stolen from a forecourt and a similar theft was attempted.

A man was caught on cctv walking through Hayselden's showroom and into a private office where it is believed he took the keys to a VW Touareg. The car was later stolen.

That incident occurred in early April but last weekend a similar attempt was made. A man matching the description of the suspect was found in a private Hayselden office.

No keys were taken on this occasion but PC Mark Walker said: “We are currently investigating both incidents and would like to warn dealers in the local area to be aware of this type of crime."
