Father and daughter help save man's life

VOLUNTEER ambulance workers Keith Parker and his daughter Anna saved a man's life after he collapsed near Kexborough.

Keith, of Strafford Street, Darton, was in his shorts, t-shirt and slippers preparing to go away when a call came in saying someone had suffered a heart attack.

Together with Anna, 25, who was on duty as a volunteer 'Community First Responder', he drove to the scene and provided lifesaving first-aid.

The man had collapsed on the motorway bridge near Bence Lane, minutes from Keith and Anna's home. They were first on the scene and used a defibrillator to kick-start the heart.

Keith, 55, a building inspector, said: "Anna got called but I had the kit in my car when the phone rang. She said, 'it's a heart attack', so we both jumped in the car.

It's only around the corner and we were there in a couple of minutes and before the ambulance.

"I went down in my shorts, t-shirt and slippers. I don't suppose the chap was bothered about that. We got a call later saying he was still alive.

"Finding that out was a better feeling than winning the pools because I did not think he was going to make it."
