Wassail that about?

MEMBERS of Lundwood Church will be spreading festive cheer round the village when they go carol singing.

They will sing traditional Christmas songs by candlelight as well as collecting money for Barnsley Hospice and afterwards meet at St Mary Magdalene for a cup of traditional English wassail which means good health.

Participants meet at the church on Thursday December 11 at 7pm.

Father James McCaskill said: "Carolling is a joyful tradition that seems lost to the times in our local area, and it provides a marvellous opportunity to spread some cheer around the village in the midst of the financial doom and gloom of this year".
