Driver runs from the rubble

A CAR smashed into two house walls in Mapplewell when it careered out of control and skidded across the road in the early hours of the morning.

The BMW was on Darton Lane at around 3am on Saturday when it spun out of control and caused extensive damage to property walls on the opposite side of the road.

It is understood the vehicle was travelling at a high speed when it mounted the kerb and veered across Darton Lane. It crashed into and demolished ten metres of stone boundary walls of two terraced houses.

The vehicle also hit an adjoining wall causing it to travel along the top of a third and forth property wall before continuing down Darton Lane. The driver and three passengers ran in the direction of Pye Avenue at Mapplewell.

Police, fire and local council workers attended the scene to make the area safe and police have arrested a local man in connection with the incident.
