School book to hit the shops

STUDENTS at Dearne High School have had their first book published.

Over 600 copies of "Out of the Shadows" have been sold in the first three weeks of publication and students will be doing a signing at Waterstones, Meadowhall on Monday.

The book, an anthology of fantasy stories written by 37 students aged between 11 and 14, has been endorsed by actor Brian Blessed who went to the school and is being published by Grosvenor House Publishing.

Peter Shaw, assistant headteacher, said: "They are quite excited about it being stocked in Meadowhall. "They are delighted and inspired by it and some others are now writing their own books individually. I think we are the only school in the country doing it."
