Our hero Mark gets top award for saving tot

A DARTON man who brought a four-year-old hit and run victim back from the brink of death is to get a top award.

Mark Gracie, of Darton Lane, has been nominated for a Royal Humane Society resuscitation award following the accident in February, which left toddler Tyler Jessop in hospital with horrific injuries.

His mum Sonia Eggett said nominating Mark is her way of saying 'a massive thank you' for helping her son in his hour of need.

She added: "The guy deserves a medal for what he's done. If it wasn't for him I do not know where we would be now because Tyler wouldn't be here." Builder Mark told the Chronicle he is a little publicity shy and had forgotten all about the nomination but says it is great to be recognised for what he did and will never forget Tyler.

He added: "It's hard because I'm not one for any fuss and it's the little lad I'm worried about but yes it's a really nice thing to do and be thought of in that way."
