Students' 'A'mazing results

RINGING home the news - Barnsley College A-Level student Aleesha Benson phones home with her results.

The 18-year-old, an aspiring primary school teacher from Wombwell, was among hundreds nervously opening their results and finding out whether they had done enough to go on to university.

The college's overall pass rate has increased this year with four percent more students getting A-C passes than last year. The college has recorded a significant drop of students getting E grades and 100 per cent pass rates have been achieved in 19 subjects.
