Parky drops in for a chat

FORMER chat show host Sir Michael Parkinson talked about old times when he returned to Barnsley for the first time in five years.

In a sweeping visit, he was in Barnsley with care minister Ivan Lewis to hand a cheque from the government to Barnsley Council for £3.8 million to pay for a new 'extra care' centre in Hoyland.

It will be the fourth of its kind in the town and provides accommodation where old people can retain independence but care services are provided with leisure and social amenities.
