Oh shucks

AN ARTIST inspired by gardeners from Brazil is holding her latest exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Sarah Staton has worked with fashion designers, furniture designers and architects but draws her latest inspiration from sketches of sculpted trees made by roadside gardeners in Brazil.

Her exhibition, called Shucks, Sucks, Sticks, Stacks, is a collection of colourful wooden topiary sculptures which are on display in the Bothy gallery and 18th century designed landscape.

It also includes stacked and slotted sculpture, pieces of art made using old and new commercial technologies and paintings in two and three dimensions.

Sarah's exhibition runs until September 28 and in that time she will lead 12 students chosen by an international competition to design and create open air seating at the park.
