Hunt goes on for missing scarecrow

IT was enough to knock the stuffing out of a scarecrow...

Two scarecrows went missing at Woolley and one was returned beheaded and tied to a tree.

The life-size creations were made by village resident Claire Slater for the Woolley flower festival on Saturday, and were put on display on the village green.

But by Sunday morning celebration had turned to shock when locals discovered both scarecrows had vanished.

Claire said: "We think they were taken early on Sunday because people who were milling around at about 2am told us they were still on the village green at that time. I can't believe someone would steal them from under our noses like that."
