Old hotel to make way for houses

A DERELICT pub which has become a target for vandals is set to be demolished to make way for houses.

Ten town houses and six apartments will be built on the site of the Half Way House, Barnsley Road, Goldthorpe if developers Leisure Inns Ltd get the go ahead.

The application is outline, meaning more detailed information will be revealed at a later date, but there would be new vehicle and pedestrian accesses, 16 parking spaces and a new public road running through the site.

Outline planning permission was granted in October 2005 for 24 apartments and another application approved in May last year was for 24 two bedroomed apartments in two blocks.

The pub closed two years ago and has been blighted by vandalism and arson attacks ever since.
