FOLK singer Kate Rusby launched a campaign highlighting the need for more foster carers in Barnsley.
She helped the mayor Len Picken release scores of balloons in the town centre on Wednesday to mark the start of foster carers' fortnight.
She was delighted to be involved and do what she could to raise awareness of the need for more carers.
Several parents who were there said fostering was a rewarding experience.
Foster mum Ann Murphy has looked after children for about nine years with husband Vincent.
She said: "It can be very tiring and challenging but the rewards far outweigh any of that. Childhood is so important and to be a part of that and to make a difference is something special."
