Still no sign of new road signBy MIKE COTTON A MISLEADING street sign which caused an ambulance to get lost on the way to an emergency six months ago has still not been changed.
Bramham Croft is off Millmoor Road at Low Valley, on an estate built about two years ago. In October Gillian Cropper had a diabetic 'hypo' attack. She said the ambulance took almost half an hour to arrive because the driver saw a Millmoor Road 'dead-end' sign and turned around to look elsewhere.
The story was in the Chronicle on October 19, and Alan Carnall, assistant director for the highways department, said at the time: "The provision of such signs on new developments is the responsibility of the developer. As a result of the report we are to inspect the site and ensure that any corrections are made to avoid confusion in the future."
But the sign has still not been changed. Gillian said: "Something should be done about it."
The sign on the entrance to the estate does not have a 'dead-end' sign, but further into the estate there is a second Millmoor Road sign which does, even through Bramham Croft lies around the corner. |
