A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a 26-year-old in Darfield.
Ian Stewart was stabbed to death following an "altercation" on New Street, Darfield, where he lived. A man, 31, has been arrested on suspicion of his murder.
Police were called to the street at about 10pm on Sunday and a post-mortem, carried out on Monday, revealed Mr Stewart died of a single stab wound to the chest. A force spokesman said: "It would appear there was an altercation between the two men and the 26-year-old suffered fatal injuries."
Investigations are ongoing.
