Horse charity's insurers won't pay out

AN animal charity has been left to foot the bill for fire damage to their shop because insurers have refused to pay out.

Mary Hepworth owns Albert's Horse Sanctuary in Cawthorne and runs the sanctuary's charity shop on Greenside in Staincross.

She told the Chronicle she is disgusted to think someone wanted to set fire to the shop and is equally upset to learn insurers will not be covering the damage.

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, April 27 when donated items in black bags outside the shop were set alight.

Mary said: "It was only a small fire because it was caught in time but has made a real mess outside. "The heat has broken the glass on the front door which we have had to tape up to make do and the adjoining wall to the house next door is blackened with smoke, as is the front of the shop."
