full story in this week's chronicle Meet best-smelling squaddieBy ADAM CIVICO TERRITORIAL Army soldier James Fitchett was the best smelling squaddie in Afghanistan thanks to Chronicle readers.
James, 38, of Sheffield Road, Penistone, flew to Kabul in October for a six month tour and was working with British and American squaddies to train the Afghan military.
And following an appeal in the Chronicle he received dozens of boxes of toiletries and magazines that made his tour more comfortable. The parcels were sent via the TA barracks on Wakefield Road and the first he was aware of it was when one of the boxes arrived.
James, a civil servant in Sheffield, said: "I received shower gel, bars of soap, deodorants, underwear and tooth brushes. It was very welcome and I certainly did not need to buy any toiletries when I was out there.
"I gave some away to others because I got much more than anyone else." |
