Dumped rubbish worry for sick pensioner

A THURNSCOE pensioner has to drag his wheelie bin through his bungalow for collection because he can't get past the rubbish that has been dumped at the side of his home.

Reg Dixon, of Butcher Street, says that when the adjoining pizza takeaway closed down three months ago piles of tyres, shards of broken glass, a fridge freezer, cardboard, binbags or rubbish and vats of cooking fat were dumped in an alley behind the shop.

He has tried several times to get the stuff removed and was told a month ago by his local councillor Janice Hancock it would be taken away but no-one came.

The retired miner daren't move the bags himself because he doesn't know what they contain and is concerned the rubbish is attracting rats and mice.
