Friends to motor across Africa

THIS is the car that two former Royston friends will travel across Africa in to raise money for charity.

Bob Forrest and Andrew Raynor, both 38, will travel more than 4, 500 miles from Plymouth to Timbuktu in January.

The challenge is part of the Plymouth to Dakar challenge which is based on the Paris to Dakar challenge.

The pair will travel through France, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Mali which will take about three weeks and will also have to dodge live mine fields on the border of Western Sahara.

The Renault Megan Scenic has been donated by a garage in Derby.

Andrew said of the car: “I hope to go all the way in it and hope we don’t get stuck on any borders or any land mines.”
