A brass band lover, who suffers from a life threatening illness is holding a music concert to raise money for the hospital where he receives treatment.
Michael Blackett, 25, of Rockley Avenue, Birdwell, suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and along with his family is raising money for the unit at Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
The evening of music will be held at Milton Hall in Fitzwilliam Street, Elsecar, on November 10 and will include performances from the Chapeltown Silver Prize Band who Michael used to play with as their principle euphonium player.
His mum, Andrea, 51, says Michael has to spend long spells in hospital and the unit he stays in is a sterile and safe environment for CF patients.
Andrea says there are are 12 rooms for patients to prevent cross infection and each room is kitted out differently with murals on the wall including a rain forest scene and a rock concert to make them feel more comfortable and that it less like a hospital.
There is also a gym for patients to keep fit.
