Newlyweds Marc and Kathryn had a 'choppy' start to married life - when they flew to their reception in a helicopter.
Marc Lindley, of Barnsbridge Grove, Barnsley, and Kathryn née Rollinson, of Middlecliffe Lane, Little Houghton, were married at Darfield parish church on Saturday before driving to a field close to Kathryn's home where she surprised Marc with a helicopter she had arranged to take them to their reception at Walton Hall, near Wakefield, via Emley Moor.
Kathryn's mum Janet Mallinson, also of Middlecliffe Lane, said it was an extraordinary act of love from her daughter as she is afraid of flying.
She said: "It was a surprise wedding present for Marc, he thought he was going back down to our house for a photograph until he saw the helicopter waiting for them."
The 150 guests were also unaware of the manner of the couple's arrival at Walton Hall until the helicopter began circling the grounds, where they were treated to a Caribbean steel drum band and cocktails.
The couple then went to visit family friends in the Mercian village of Roldan, Spain, for their honeymoon and will live together in Marc's house on their return.
The wedding was conducted by Rev David Hildred and attended by best man Brian Baker, groomsmen Steven Lindley, John Mallinson, Craig Smith, Jason Ford, Ryan Robertshaw and page boy Alfie Ford.
The maid of honour was Kathryn's sister Lyn Ford, accompanied by bridesmaids Helen Smith, Katie Baker, Stacey Lindley, Abigail Chalkley and flower girl Alex Wright.
Kathryn was given away by mum Janet, who was accompanied by husband John Mallinson. Marc's father Steven Lindley was present with wife Joan.
