Boards were taken off the windows at Penistone Leisure Centre as a community group prepared to reopen it.
Sporting Penistone received keys for the centre in July and has spent the last two months restoring it to working order.
Circuit training, led by Eric Feek, started three weeks ago and classes, including boxercise, pilates and zumba, will soon be available.
The centre closed in May 2011 and has required free labour from local people and businesses to make it fit for purpose.
