Abbey's joy over highest mark

By Dan Greaves, Royston Reporter Tuesday 28th August 2012
Record marks: Abbey Kershaw.

A Barnsley College student has received the highest mark in the country for her childcare course.

Abbey Kershaw, 20, of Cudworth, completed a diploma in childcare and education, achieving an A grade.

She said: “I couldn’t believe it when I got my results. I was thrilled to find out I had got an A in my research project and even more proud when I learnt that I was the only person in the country to achieve this grade.”

Abbey’s grade for her research project was also the highest nationally recorded result since the course was introduced in 2008. “My course at Barnsley College has taught me so much and really prepared me for starting a degree in September.”

Abbey is hoping to develop her skills when she starts studying primary education at Leeds Trinity University.
