Sunday 19th August 2012

A Bolton boy has won an award for caring for his poorly little sister.

Ryan Skidmore, 14,  helps care for Lilly Mae, five, who has a rare condition, and has been named ‘Most Caring Young Person’ in the WellChild Awards.

Lilly’s condition means she suffers from a number of health problems including epilepsy, asthma, a low immune system and global development delay.

Ryan has helped care for Lilly since she was born and helps feed, dress, bath and change her.

He was nominated by family friend Louise Harper.

She said: “Ryan helps his parents look after Lilly and even gives his mum time in bed to catch up on sleep and brings her breakfast in bed. Ryan will help out so much as he loves his sister so much. He truly deserves recognition for what he does for Lilly.”

Ryan will be one of the stars of the show at an awards ceremony in London next month, which has been attended by many celebrities, including royal patron, Prince Harry.
