Friends unite for cycle ride

Three friends are raising money for a cancer charity by cycling 79 miles.

Simon Poxton, 44, of Houghton Road, will ride from Thurnscoe to Mablethorpe with friends Martin Yates, 42, and Dominic Yates, 18, both of Rotherham Road, Great Houghton.

Simon’s stepmother died of lungcancer a few years ago and his mother-in-law is suffering from secondary breast cancer.

They have both received help from the Macmillan nurses, which is where the sponsor money will be donated.

His wife Jane, 43, said: “It’s something that has affected us both and is something close to our hearts. We want to give something back.”
