Bridge look to smash home record
Thursday 28th February 2013

Their table-topping Barnsley rivals Athersley Recreation may have stolen most of the headlines this season, but Worsbrough Bridge could create history by going through the entire Division One campaign without losing at home.

Bridge have won ten and drawn six of their 16 league matches at Park Road and have also scored more home goals than any other side after a 6-0 thrashing of Askern Villa on Tuesday night.

Ninth-placed Worsbrough’s record will be threatened as five of their next six league games are at home.

“I am very proud of our record and we will be aiming to go through the whole season without losing at home for the first time in the club’s history,” said manager Chris Hilton.

“We are getting back into form after missing a lot of games due to the weather. We were up to third before Christmas but, because of the river next to our pitch, our games were called off a month before other clubs started getting called off.

“It really slowed us down and, while we are not out of the promotion chase, a lot of other clubs would have to slip up.”
