Recalling Silkstone school in the 1930s

DO any of our readers recognise themselves on a photograph of children who attended Silkstone School in the early-1930s?

The photograph was submitted by Sheila Walton of Silkstone Common. She told us the teacher's name was Frances Mary Exley from Emley. She lived at Silkstone during the week and went home at weekends. She later married George William Scargill.

Mrs Walton's mother, now 85, was a pupil there. She is on the second row from the back, fifth from the left.

If any of our readers recognise anyone on the photograph, or remember the teacher please contact Kath Parkin, Barnsley Chronicle, 47, Church Street, Barnsley.
