CAN any of our readers throw any light on the ownership of a tiny lady's locket found in New Street, Barnsley?
Mary Hurd was shopping when she spotted it on the ground and picked it up. At the time she tried several ways of finding out who it belonged to but, unfortunately, without success.
She forgot all about the locket until she unexpectedly came across it again recently when looking through her personnal possessions.
Now in her 80s, Mary would be delighted if the locket could still be returned to the owner or her descendants, even though it is a long time since she found it.
It is hoped the locket can be identified by means of the three photographs which were inside it and which appear to have been taken, possibly in the 1920s or 1930s.
They are of a woman wearing a smart hat, an older man wearing a flat cap and sporting a moustache and a young man who appears to be in naval uniform. The photograph of the older man was discovered underneath the one of the young naval officer.
Any information as to the identity of the three people, or any one of them, which could lead to the locket being identified and returned to the owner's family would be appreciated. Please contact Kath Parkin, Editorial Department, Barnsley Chronicle, 47, Church Street, Barnsley.
