Mrs C Driscoll, Mapplewell: I read your interesting article last week about life in years gone on Honeywell Street – ‘the happiest street in Barnsley’.
It was about how a group has come together to recapture the community spirit that existed then. I turned 80 this year and for many people of my age this was how things used to be. Yes there were cheeky lads but not all this ‘anti-social behaviour’ you read about.
We were tight knit in those days. We knew our neighbours and most of them became our friends.
This should still be the case now and then all streets would be happy ones.
