The Baker is a newly devised piece of music theatre by Sheffield’s leading learning disability theatre company, In the Boat.
Established in 1984, the company has toured the UK and Europe aiming to show the particular talents of people with learning disabilities so that they can be appreciated and included in the mainstream cultural mix of a diverse society.
There is a cast of 16 adults with learning disabilities, who use original songs, music, movement and film to tell its story.
The tale? A young baker’s cakes - made from the recipes taken from a magic recipe book inherited from his father - excite romance in the village, and are the envy of the café owner on the other side of the square.
